£50million new boy Ben White has quickly struck up a commanding partnership with Gabriel Magalhaes at the heart of the Gunners defence, with Arteta’s favoured duo seemingly untouchable at present.
At left-back, Kieran Tierney has continued his stunning form and has held off the challenge of young upstart Nuno Tavares so far this term.
Midfield – Partey, Ward-Prowse, Smith Rowe
Thomas Partey has finally started to show glimpses of the talent that persuaded Arsenal to fork out the £45m fee that was required to prise him away from Atletico Madrid back in 2020.
The Gunners enforcer’s upturn in form would allow Ward-Prowse to pull the strings for the Londoners if they were to succeed in a move for the Southampton talisman. Ward-Prowse’s prowess from set-pieces would also add another string to Arsenal’s bow in their bid to fire their way back into the Premier League’s top four.
Emile Smith Rowe has been Arsenal’s star performer all season, and his superior goal tally would give him the edge to spearhead the Gunner’s midfield in the No 10 role ahead of Martin Odegaard.
