Five men and five women arrested in Lincolnshire lay-by on immigration offences


An off-duty police officer witnessed the people exiting a lorry on the A1 before the lorry drove away. According to Lincolnshire Police, those arrested remain in custody for wellbeing assessments. They are believed to be young adults.

Officers are currently carrying out extra patrols in the surrounding area in an attempt to identify the driver.

The force is calling for witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.

It tweeted: “We are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after 10 people believed to be illegal immigrants were dropped off by a lorry on the northbound carriageway of the A1 near North Witham at around 2.15pm today.

“Five men and five women are now in custody.”
