While conversing with Mark Dolan, the 76-year-old former leader explained in detail about the left-wing party. When asked whether the lefties are more empathetic, he said: “ I think it’s a very different world from the one when I got involved in politics because there are a lot of conservative members on the council.
“With me, they would come in like John Major. He had been one of them to do things to make life better for people.
“I think increasingly now, not just amongst tories but amongst several on the left as well as on the labour.
“They just want to be famous celebrities like Boris.”
Mr Livingstone served as the Leader of the Greater London Council from 1981 until the council was abolished in 1986, and as Mayor of London from the creation of the office in 2000 until 2008.
He also served as the Member of Parliament for Brent East from 1987 to 2001.
He was suspended from Labour over comments about Hitler supporting Zionism.
Continuing with their conversation, Mr Dolan asked whether the Conservative party is “nasty” compared to the Labour party.
Responding to his question, Mr Livinstone said: “If you are a member of the conservative party, you will be having a lot of fun, a lot of debates, occasional routes, exactly the same as in the labour party.
