Wildflowers
It’s not just spring bedding plants that can be sown in November, in fact, the warm autumn means popular cottage blooms can still be grown.
Sarah said: “In the flower department, cornflowers will take almost whatever weather you throw at it, as will Ammi majus and A. visnaga. Those are all well-worth sowing now, so late in this unusually mild autumn.”
Cornflowers are a great choice for brightening up a vegetable patch or planter for their tall stems and bold flowerheads.
While they don’t tend to flower again in the second spring after planting, they can reproduce by self-seeding in certain locations, allowing new plants to emerge the following year.
