M62 traffic: Severe delays after pile-up closes part of motorway

The eastbound carriageway is affected from junction 24 for Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, to junction 26 – the M606 link – near Bradford in the same county. Highways England has warned that the accident will add another 90 minutes onto journey times.

There is no diversion in place but some drivers are leaving at junction 24 to use the A643 eastbound through Fixby and the A6107 eastbound through Bradley to rejoin the motorway at junction 25 for Brighouse, West Yorkshire.

These local roads are congested and police are advising drivers to remain on the dual-carriageway.

Vehicles involved in the accident are being recovered by emergency services, Yorkshire Live reports, and lane four of four remains shut so this can take place.

Westbound traffic is slow due to onlookers.

Congestion on that side of the motorway is back to junction 27 – the M621 link – for Birstall, West Yorkshire. Drivers on the westbound carriageway are also advised to remain on the motorway.
