A pensioner has died after he was hit by a van in a Tesco car park and the motorist drove off.
The driver remains at large after careering into the man, who was in his 80s, in the supermarket car park on Saturday afternoon.
The victim was walking through the car park when he was hit by the van, My London reports.
Emergency services, including an air ambulance, rushed to the store but the man died later in hospital.
His next of kin have been informed.
No further details about the pensioner, including his name and where he was from, have been disclosed at this stage.
Metropolitan Police say the van involved failed to stop at the scene of the crash and the force is carrying out enquiries to trace the driver.
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision. They have been released pending further enquiries.
The force is urging anyone with information to come forwards to aid the investigation.
Detective Inspector Ian Watson, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “The car park was extremely busy with people going about their day when this collision occurred. If you saw anything, or captured events on dash cam or a mobile device, then please get in touch.”
