Police investigating Raheem Sterling break-in make two arrests after star's home raided


Police are investigating a second burglary in the village where England star Raheem Sterling lives. Surrey Police said they’re looking into whether there are links between the raid on Sterling’s home on Saturday and an attempted break-in at another home in Oxshott on Tuesday.

The force said confirmed they have arrested two men on suspicion of attempted burglary in the Oxshott area. 

The two remain in custody. “Two men were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary last night (December 6) in the Oxshott area. They are currently in custody.

“Following reports of suspicious activity around 6.40pm, a number of resources were deployed, including the dog unit and the police helicopter.

“Our colleagues from British Transport Police also provided assistance.

“Enquiries remain ongoing to establish whether there are any links between these arrests and the break-in reported to us over the weekend.”

England winger Sterling was not available for selection for England’s round-of-16 game against Senegal on Saturday and left the England camp in Qatar to return home following the raid.

Just 90 minutes before kickoff England’s official Twitter account announced: “Raheem Sterling is not available for selection for the #ThreeLions tonight as he is dealing with a family matter.”

Jewellery reported to be worth £300,000 was stolen from the player’s home in Oxshott, Surrey.

It is thought Sterling’s fiancee, Paige Milian, returned to the couple’s home to discover that there had been a break-in.

 

Questions remain over whether the Chelsea star will return to Qatar for the rest of the tournament as England prepare to face France in Saturday’s quarter-final.

Fellow ginger Bukayo Saka revealed he had sent his teammate well wishes before he jetted home to be with his family. 

Asked about Sterling during he press conference he said: “He wished us the best yesterday as he was going back and I’ve messaged him and hopefully he will get back to me later – I am just hoping he and his family are ok.”
