Queen WILL attend Chelsea Flower Show this afternoon as monarch returns to beloved event

The event, hosted in central London, has historically welcomed Royal Family members.

The Queen had hoped to be in attendance, but the Palace had maintained the decision about whether the monarch would attend Monday’s event would be made on the day.

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show has also created a custom display in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Florist Simon Lycett used Her Majesty’s favourite flower, Lily of the Valley, to craft the elaborate display.

Mr Lycett told The Telegraph ahead of the confirmation of the Queen’s attendance that it would be “utterly overwhelming and magical” for the monarch to see the display in person.

He added: “It would be totally special, and a delicious cherry on top of what is already a rather gorgeous cake.”
