Roy Keane picks one signing Tottenham must make in addition to Adama Traore transfer

Roy Keane believes Tottenham need a top-class midfield player this month in order to consolidate a top-four finish. Antonio Conte was once again reminded of the glaring flaws in his squad as Spurs went down 2-0 at Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

Tottenham now look a little light in a number of departments but the club are yet to make a signing this window.

There is hope, however, that Adama Traore will arrive through the door with an agreement now close with Wolves.

But beyond that, transfer activity has been minimal and that is cause for concern for the Tottenham manager.

When asked what is the one signing Spurs desperately need to make, Keane cited the team’s lack of a leader in central midfield.

He added: “Yeah I’d agree, they obviously want a wing-back and somebody just to help out.

“When you haven’t got [Heung-min] Son or Kane, they need someone to help out.

“[Lucas] Moura does it in bits and pieces, he’s never really over a long period of time, been the answer.

“It’s not easy but that’s what you pay a director of football for.

“But I agree with Roy, they do need someone who can run the game from centre-half.”

Once again highlighting the desperate need for multiple reinforcements, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink then claimed Tottenham need a centre-back and striker.

He said: “I think they need a centre-back. Somebody with legs, who can run and defend.

“Someone who can keep a clean sheet, I also think upfront.”
