Royal Family LIVE: 'Final straw' between Harry and William as 'fury' grows over bombshell

Princess Diana’s death will be the focus of a new Channel 4 documentary and senior investigating officer at the time David Douglas, has recalled speaking to Prince Charles about the tragic accident.

As part of the investigation, Douglas spoke to Prince Charles for a witness statement.

Douglas recalled: “He didn’t appear to be nervous. It was one of those days where it was remarkable.

“You don’t always go into St James’ Palace with the ex-commissioner, who had been in charge of me, to interview His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales.

“It’s remarkable in that way but in actual fact, it was also unremarkable, because it was a straight forward witness statement from someone who happened to be the Prince of Wales.

“When we went in, I’d never met him before obviously, I found him charming. He was very polite and friendly.

“We sat down. It was Lord Stevens, the Prince of Wales, Prince of Wales’ private secretary who was also there, Sir Michael Peat, and myself, just the four of us in the room.

“Lord Stevens obviously took the lead and talked to Prince Charles about that note and what became obvious was Prince Charles knew nothing about that note until it became note in 2003.

“He knew no more than we did. We asked a few questions about that.”
