Highly-anticipated crime thriller Trigger Point will be airing on ITV this evening (Sunday, January 23) at 9pm. The six-part series comes from the makers of Line of Duty and has been written by Daniel Brierley. Audiences may spot some familiar faces in the new programme – Express.co.uk has the lowdown on the cast.
Who is in the cast of Trigger Point episode 1?
Lana Washington – Vicky McClure
No stranger to screens, Vicky McClure takes the lead as Lana Washington, a former military servicewoman who now works in bomb disposal.
McClure is best known for her role as undercover officer Kate Fleming in Line of Duty.
She has also starred in This Is England, Amazon’s Alex Rider series, The Replacement and The Secret Agent as well as Shane Meadows’ film A Room For Romeo Brass.
Speaking on This Morning about Trigger Point, McClure said: “It was a brand new story and a brand new world… I was discovering something completely different. Lana’s got so much going on that as an actor, I was like ‘It’s all there.’”
She went on to say: “We had two experts on set with us at all times and the questions I’m asking them… There’s this talk of the long walk and that’s going from where you are to the device and how that must feel, and knowing there’s the potential for death at any point. You can’t really get your head around it.
“There’s only so much I can understand about that fear. But just the way they described it to us, from a mental and a physical and professional capacity, having their expertise is exactly what we needed to try and put that into the show, as much as the artistic licence that we’ll also use to create a drama.”

Joel Nutkins – Adrian Lester
Acclaimed star Adrian Lester plays Lana’s partner Joel Nutkins, who toured with her in Afghanistan and has a close bond with her.
Lester’s career spans across stage and screen with his biggest roles including TV series Hustle, Riviera, Undercover as well as productions of Othello, Henry V and Hamlet.
DI Thom Youngblood – Mark Stanley
Mark Stanley who takes on the part of Thom Youngblood is also known for other hit ITV drama The Bay as well as White House Farm, Sanditon, and Honour.
He will next be appearing in the drama The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe about the real-life so-called Canoe Man John Darwin and his wife.
Inspector Robins – Cal MacAninch
Portraying Inspector Robins is actor Cal MacAninch, whose previous work includes Downton Abbey, Mr Selfridge and Calibre.
Most recently, he starred in the BBC submarine drama Vigil which was also a Jed Mercurio-linked project.
DI Samira Desai – Manjinder Virk
Manjinder Virk takes on DI Samira Desai following her work in Midsomer Murders, Bad Move, Britz and Ordinary Lies.
Karl Maguire – Warren Brown
Luther and Strike Back actor Warren Brown plays Karl Maguire. Some of his other credits include Liar, X Company and he will next be appearing in police drama The Responder.
Pete – Tom Stokes
Another fresh face is Tom Stokes who portrays Pete. The up-and-coming actor has appeared in Equals and The Railway Man.
PS Brown – Gwynfor Jones
Gwynfor Jones is another member of the team PS Brown. The actor has featured in TV series Meet the Parents, Gangs of London and Holby City.
Angie Phelan – Claire Lams
Actress Claire Lams plays Angie Phelan, who is related to suspected bomb maker. Lams best known for National Theatre Live: One Man, Two Guvnors as well mini series Showtrial and Silent Witness as well as a small role in The Salisbury Poisonings.
Other cast members include Lucia de Wan as Evie Phelan, Gavin Sibson as PS Costam, Ralph Ineson as Commander Bregman, Nadine Marshall as Marianne Hamilton, and Pippa Haywood as Dr MacAndrew.
