Why the Queen has travelled to Sandringham – poignant and heartbreaking reason

The Queen has arrived at Sandringham today, but instead of staying in the main house, her Majesty is stay at Prince Philip’s cottage retreat on the estate.

It was clear to any onlookers that Queen Elizabeth II was in madly love with her husband of 73 years right until the end.

In a touching tribute to Prince Philip, the Queen has chosen to return to his Sandringham cottage to mark her Accession Day on February 6 where she will celebrate her 70 years as monarch.

Instead of marking this huge milestone with public celebrations, it’s thought the Queen has chosen the solace of her husband’s woodland retreat to reflect upon her reign privately and to look back at a time when her husband was by her side.
